Brief Introduction

Suzhou Early Childhood Education College is a public junior college approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. Originally，the school was built in 1976 as Suzhou Region Early Childhood Education School located in Wuxian County. It was earliest vocational secondary school for early childhood educators in the province. In 2005, the name was changed to Suzhou Advanced Early Childhood Education School.

With the approval of Provincial Education Department, the preparations for the establishment of Suzhou Early Childhood Education College started in July, 2014. In 2015, the location at the Tiger Hill was moved to the current place. The area is about 51 acres with about 1 million square feet of the covered area. The campus features the style of southern Chinese riverside towns spaced with water, bridge and pavilion. The architecture colored by residential black, white and grey looks light, elegant and graceful. The campus culture is sketched by passion, interest and spirit. With the approval of Provincial People’s Government, Suzhou Early Childhood Education College was officially established in January, 2016.

School has 50 classes for 3-year program and 5-year program, 2527 registered students. There are three lab schools to attach the college. About 1300 children take early childhood education every day. There are 133 full-time teachers, among whom 100 teachers (75.37%) hold Master’s Degree and above, 7 teachers hold Doctor’s Degree (including PhD candidates). Additionally, there are 70 part-time teachers. In terms of professional title, there are currently 6 senior teachers and 54 vice-senior teachers, accounting for 46.6% of the teaching staff. There are 73 staff in the affiliated lab schools, among whom 1 holds the title of Senior, 3 hold Vice-Senior and 33 hold Medium-grade.

To foster student’s practical teaching ability, 13 training rooms and  bases are developed, like kindergarten simulated activity room, picture book room, children’s life hall, music studio, handcraft studio, block building room, science discovery room and age 0-3 simulation room . Students are able to get more real classroom teaching experience from there. 22 special rooms are prepared for students to better learn vocal training, calligraphy, arts, ceramics, musical instruments and more. 230 piano rooms are for students to practice piano playing skills. The campus has Library, performing center, concert hall, and some other specialized training rooms, like preschool education specialized training rooms and arts specialized training rooms. 78 practice bases out of campus have basically covered all high quality kindergartens in Jiangsu Province.

School aims at building a first class early childhood education college with high quality and strong specialties. It also targets at fostering early childhood educators as applied talents. At present, we have three normal majors, such as preschool education, early childhood education, music education. We also have two non-normal majors, art education and music performance. Exploratory courses are set up for intermediate & advanced nursery teachers, dietitian in the campus. From 2012-2016, we are always at the top of the list in the basic skills competition of normal school students in Jiangsu Province according to the rate of awards. School has won nearly 300 honorary rewards including Civilized Unit in Jiangsu Province and other kinds of honors.

The minimum admission score for 5-year program is no lower than that of local four-star high schools, or account for 80% of the full score during the senior high school entrance examination. For the first 3-year program, the entry score came out in front among 18 higher vocational colleges in Suzhou during the national college entrance examination. School graduate employment data indicates that in recent years, graduates keep stable employment as the competitive advantage to landing a great job out of college.

During the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-2020), the school will carry forward the change of school management under the leading of the system of modern universities. It will build the school into a high level distinctive national first-class early childhood education college with courage and efforts.
